S.C. 001.

Furniture set designed to use 3D printed casting.

S.C. 001 stands as a family of furniture. With one furniture component, many different pieces can be made. The brass component that makes up the core of the project was prototyped using a 3D printed sand mold, which was then machined and finished by hand.

The furniture is designed with both portability and strength as the driving force. With this in mind, every joint is designed to be either threaded or friction fit. As the joint is stressed, the forces acting upon S.C. 001 serve to strengthen the connection of the joint. This simple connection allows the furniture to be easily assembled and disassembled without tools.
